  • What is Google Vids?
    Google Vids is a collaborative video creation app in Google Workspace for Education that makes it easy for students and educators to create engaging videos.
  • What is the Google Vids Education Film Festival 2025?
    The Google Vids Education Film Festival 2025 is a global celebration of creativity in education! It's a virtual showcase of how educators are using Google Vids in innovative and inspiring ways to transform learning. The festival aims to: Inspire: Share best practices and spark new ideas for using Vids in the classroom. Recognize: Celebrate the incredible work educators are doing with Vids. Connect: Build a community of passionate educators who are pushing the boundaries of digital learning.
  • How can I tell if I can access Google Vids?
    While signed in to your Google Workspace for Education account, type Vids.new in your browser. You are eligible to participate if it successfully takes you to Google Vids.
  • Who can participate?
    The film festival is only open to those with access to Google Vids, which are Education Plus customers and those with a Gemini Education or Education Premium License. However, everyone is encouraged to vote for their favorite submissions and be part of the celebration!
  • What are the festival categories?
    Educators can submit videos in the following categories: Classroom Storytelling Student Assignment Template Professional Development Video Explainer
  • How long should my video be?
    Each video can be a maximum of 10 minutes to maximize viewer engagement. If you need to insert a portion of a longer video, you can insert videos from your Drive (up to 30 minutes) into a scene and then trim them.
  • How will my video be judged?
    Each entry will be judged by a panel of experts who are employees of Sponsor and/or Canopy Education (“Judges”). An overall winner will be selected for each category based on the Judges' evaluations. Additionally, a "People's Choice" award will be given, determined by votes cast on the official website. Each Video will be evaluated by the Judges based on the following criteria: Creativity and Innovation: How unique and innovative is the video? Educational Value: How well does the video convey its educational goals? Technical Quality: How well-produced is the video (e.g., audio, visuals, editing)?
  • How do I submit my video?
    Create a video using Google Vids for one of the competition categories. If you have access to Vids, you can start a new Vid easily by going to Vids.new. Generate a link with Vids and ensure your sharing settings are set correctly. To do this, in Vids, open your video and click the "Share" button. Make sure the sharing settings are set to "Anyone with the link can view." Copy the video link that's generated. Post on social media telling us what your Vid is about! Your post must include @Googleforedu (if posting on X), #GoogleVids, #GoogleVidsFilmFestival, and a link to your vid. Go to the application form and complete the short submission form, including the link to your video, and a link to your social media post to submit your entry.
  • When is the deadline for submissions?
    The deadline to submit your videos is the 15th May 2025.
  • Can I make use of Vids generative AI features, like “help me create”?
    Absolutely! Users with the Gemini Education or Education Premium Add-Ons are encouraged to explore and utilize the powerful generative AI features in Vids to enhance their submissions.
  • Can I use copyrighted music, images, or video clips in my submission?
    To ensure your video can be shared and enjoyed by everyone, it's important to avoid using any copyrighted materials (music, images, video clips, etc.) without permission. Here's the good news: Google Vids makes it easy to create copyright-friendly videos! Explore the built-in library: Vids provides a fantastic collection of royalty-free stock music, sound effects, images, and video clips that you can use freely in your videos. No need to search elsewhere! Unleash your creativity: Why not create your own original content? Compose your own music, design your own graphics, or film your own footage. It's a fantastic way to personalize your video and showcase your unique talents. *If your video contains copyrighted material that you don't have permission to use, it may be disqualified from the festival.   • What happens if I win?
    Winners will receive a personalized plaque in their name and have the opportunity to be featured in a Google For Education Blog Post.
  • Can I submit multiple entries?
    Absolutely! We encourage you to get creative and submit as many entries as you'd like across all categories. There’s no limit to your submissions—so let your imagination, teaching and Vids skills run wild!
